IMPROVE PERFORMANCE!
New build and refurbishment interiors can be accelerated and simplified with an innovative, superior performance fibreboard. And to help specifiers understand how it works, supplier Richmond Building Products has developed a CPD seminar explaining the techniques.
Fermacell gypsum fibreboard is manufactured from 100% recyclable materials including raw gypsum and cellulose fibres, in a process that yields a board with high impact, fire and moisture resistance, and improved sound insulation over traditional wall and flooring materials.
Danielle McCormick, responsible for marketing Richmond’s sustainable building products elaborates, “There is a lack of awareness of the benefits of dry lining boards across Ireland. The CPD seminar aims to make people aware of the features and benefits of Fermacell above a standard plasterboard. The CPD also explains how Fermacell can improve the speed of completion and overall finish of a building. Fermacell gives enhanced fire, moisture and impact performance compared to traditional plasterboard. Because it does not need plastering, there is no need to factor in wet trade costs and drying out times. The combination accelerates build speed and reduces costs over similar specification materials. As it is made from 100% recycled materials in an energy efficient factory it means it is environmentally-friendly!”
Fermacell’s moisture resistance- with a rating of 80%RH constant- means one board can be used to surface walls in any area, even wet rooms and semi-exposed areas without distortion or incurrence of mould growth. Class 1 fire rated, it performs as 110mm solid blockwork, providing fire resistance up to 180 minutes. It is also more impact resistant than traditional plasterboard. Used with mineral wool insulation, each Fermacell board provides acoustic insulation of at least 60dB, which dramatically reduces noise transmission between party walls.
Fermacell is quicker and easier to fix: its load bearing strength eliminates the need for noggins and dwangs, partitions can be started at any point along the wall and no angle beads are needed.
Once installed, no plastering is required and the board can be painted within an hour.
